Who are we?

ASP volunteers come from various backgrounds to include:

• Retired law enforcement officers
• Current and retired teachers
• IT professionals
• Parents
• Student leaders
• PTA members

All adult volunteers under go Live Scan fingerprinting and background checks as part of the application process.

What do we offer?

Our first and primary mission is to assist students with academics with tutoring from adults as well as older students. The main study area includes several internet enabled computers and a printer for completing homework assignments. We also offer a quiet room in which students may read and/or study. Finally we offer a place to hang out whether watching a movie, playing board games, or in good weather enjoying some outdoor games. Snacks are also provided most days.

What age groups do we serve?

We primarily serve students from 5^th to 8^th grade. However, we will work with high school students as well.

When do we meet?

Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after school until 5:30pm.  On Wednesday, students have the option to stay and participate in youth activities until 8pm.

How can you help?

We can always use help in various areas to include:

• Tutors
• Preparing snacks
• Monitoring game areas

Additional information

While we want to help all students, we realize the best opportunity for success is with students and parents who are committed to program. Therefore, we ask parents to commit to the school year for their student(s). We will limit staff:student ratio to no more than 1:5.
